Underwhelmed December 2, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
You know, I got to the end of this game in a few hours and thought...Is that all there is? (It doesn't make me want to see the movie)
The game froze the Wii about 4 times, each requiring a reboot. A couple of times it happened close to the end of the final level meaning I had to replay it completely.
As for 'Quantum of Solace', well, the first 4 or so levels are apparently from QoS and the last 3 or so, but most of the middle is some kind of flashback to Casino Royale. The cutscenes are disjointed and, quite frankly, confusing. Most of the time I had no real idea why the scene had suddenly changed from one continent to another.
The levels are pretty one dimensional (the kind that funnel you in a certain direction) with invisible barriers blocking the way in places. Occasionally there is a chair or a barrel blocking the way - not sure why Bond cant step over it. Very rarely there are two paths past a section, but not usually. The solution to any puzzle is run fast or shoot something - not too much variety.
The controls are pretty well done - sometimes the auto aim picks the wrong thing, but its not too hard to deal with. Stealth is not very hard and if you make noise, invariably the 'elite' guards aren't to smart. There is plenty of ammo and the guns don't seem to be hugely different in power. Telescoped aiming is very simple - not much 'wiggle'.
I need to try multiplayer, and it might change my mind but if you are into single player games, give this a miss. Go and play Resident Evil 4 for a much more complex game with better variety and a much, much, much better (and longer) storyline.
Disappointing December 1, 2008 There was a time when James Bond and a Nintendo console went hand in hand. Needless to say, those days are long over, as evidenced by the Wii version of Quantum of Solace, which takes a pretty decent game that appeared on other consoles, and just practically slaughters everything about it. On more powerful consoles, the game is noted for running on the powerful Call of Duty 4 engine. For the Wii, which as we all know isn't nearly as powerful, the game has been obviously scaled down, and boy does it ever feel it. The game's frame rate is horrid to say the least, and occasionally the game just looks downright ugly. Combined with some clunky enemy AI, Quantum of Solace on the Wii ends up being a pretty lame endeavor. However, there are a few good points of the game that stop it from being a complete dud, including the fact that it includes some excellent sound effects and music, as well as Daniel Craig's voicework to boot. Also, the online and local multiplayer modes are much more fun than the game's campaign, and the controls are actually pretty good for a Wii FPS. Still though, there isn't as much to admire here as there should be. All in all, even for Wii owning Bond fanatics, Quantum of Solace is worth a look, but leave it at that.
license to kill November 19, 2008 wow just wow this game is both fun and challenging at points........
the graphics are a small step up from orginal wii games but yet they still suck and the single campain is fun but not good but the online is amazing...
i thought this game would be crap after playing 2 levels of the campain but i decided to go aganist some people and it was fun 2 vs 2 which may sound bad but it gets pretty intense after a bit .
although your hands look like 1998 legned of zelda oot (links hands) which can be kind of annoying .
the weapons are noting super special but the awsome at the same time . the best thing about this game would have to be the wifi here is a run through
there are 4 different things you can choose conflict single or team and rush single or team
RUSH is a objective thing were you run to a golden gun or somehting and you have to be the very first person there collect all the parts you get points and so on and so on conflict is basically deathmatch which is my favorite
there are 8 classes bomber, vetern, assiasan, mercernary, hench men,00 agent, and a couple more they all have there ups and downs my favrite is vetern just because good health and a good weapon but it all depands on what your best at
POINTS you start out with 5000 points and every match you get first place in you get 100 poinits and if you lose (get in second place) then you lose so many points depanding on how many players there are max number of points is 9999 which is hard to get but i have got 9999 points before so its not that hard
THIS GAME IS NOT FOR JUSY HARDCORE GAMERS ITS FOR CASUAL TO
PROS: onine multiplayer weapons char. there are alot more i mean alot morebut i cant think f them right now CONS:graphics are moderate n cars the single campain could have bee better only like 3 levls from quantum of solace all the rest are casnio royal
thast my reveiw this game gets a 4 out of 5 but i gave it a 5 because its a good fps
ONLINE Multiplayer Makes the Game! November 16, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
For me, the Single player mode is a waste of time, I've played about an hour of single player mode, maybe 4 levels in...
The Online multiplayer is awesome! I've played about 25 hours online since I got the game last week. Its that addicting and well made. Its clear to me that they spent more time developing the multiplayer than the single player mode, and that was the RIGHT move! I've never had to wait more than a minute to get a match, you don't need friend codes to play. You can choose "play anyone" and pick right up with 3 other online players. Yes, its only 4 players in a match, there were rumors that it was going to be 12, but I've played non-stop, and never been in a match with more than 4 people. But, 4 people seems to be perfect, not too much, and not too little. You can play teams as well, 2 on 2 or 3 vs. 1, you can switch teams at any point in the match, which depending on how you feel, is a good or bad thing. Online matches last 15 minutes, the levels are very cool and they also put in the Facility from Goldeneye, with an updated and expanded look.
I just got CoD: WaW the other day, and while its amazing, I honestly think QoS online is a slightly bit better. I say this because I love the "A" button duck and cover move with QoS, its a great tactic to use while playing others in multiplayer. And QoS uses the same engine as CoD, so switching classes in a match, etc all are in QoS.
Its no Goldeneye of course, I don't think anything will ever compare to it. But I think its as good as Nightfire and TWINE in the multiplayer department and takes the cake for #2 all-time Bond game, just because of the multiplayer! Get this game for the Wii!!!!
The names.. Bond.. James Bond. November 13, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Quantum of Solace is one of the best bond games. It is first person/third person shooter, When you crouch behind a wall or an object, it switches into third person and you can see bond. Quantum of Solace consists of Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace which you can play through both movies!. The missions are interesting and very fun to play. The multiplayer is very fun when you have four friends.Playing online mode using Nintendo WFC you can connect online and play for free and is one of the best parts of the game. The Graphics and voice acting is really good and the music is great making you feel like you are playing bond. The controls are really simple and fun to play. Overall Quantum of Solace is in my opinion is one of best bond games and overall I'd give it a 9.0/10 buy this game!
