Terribly flawed design December 12, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this product because I needed a rechargeable power solution for a single Wii remote. This seemed more affordable than a charging station for two remotes. Sadly, there is a huge flaw in the design of this product: It charges via USB. This means that the Wii had to be on with the remote in the cradle for it to charge. So... when my Wii is on, I have to have the remote in the charging station which means... yep... I can't use it! Personally, I am not going to leave my Wii running when I am not playing it just to charge the battery pack! I assume I could use my computer to charge the battery pack via USB but the chance of me using my PC to charge my Wii remote is little to none. My Wii remote needs to stay near the Wii, not get carried back and forth from console to computer.
I also don't know how I feel about this sucking power from my Wii in order to charge the battery pack. That seems like it can't be good for the Wii.
Honestly, this seems like it might have been a good idea but it REALLY needs an external power source. Unless you have two remotes so you can have one charging while you play with the other, I have to advise you to stay away from this product. Go ahead and buy a charging station with it's own power plug or just use batteries.
