Product Description Immerse yourself in the most detailed skating environement ever with Tony Hawk: Proving Ground. In this game, no ground is sacred - skate on anything that holds still long enough, and sneak into spots only you can find by way of ladder, rooftop or even sewer! Just watch out for security guards who will toss you out of the choice locations. There's more to it than just idle skating - assert your authority by skate-checking jerks who get in your way, or compete in races to impress other skaters! No need to be content with existing bowls and ramps, either - there are a number of moddable objects in every city, so you can knock over billboards, bend lamp posts, and rearrange your world as you see fit. There's even a new personalizable feature - your very own skate lounge! You can stock it full of ramps, gear, flat-screens, cars or even helicopters, and get rewarded with lounge additions by taking on skate challenges and competitions. With all this, plus customized skating avatars, the ability to create your own skate videos and hundreds of skater challenges with different rewards, Tony Hawk: Proving Ground takes the traditonal skateboarding game above and beyond. Multiple levels of moddable objects in every city - use the hammer tool to kink rails, bend lamp posts, knock over billboards, and pull up grates Earn money in the game to customize your own skate lounge Shoot, edit and score your own skate videos. Tony Hawk's Proving Ground June 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Proving Ground is the next Chapter in the TH saga...as usual, graphics are better, and features are better, but basically the same game. It's still fun to play, but for my taste, I would like to see some more realistic (simulated) type of game, where the skating is more believable...not 30 ft ollies off of a kicker...4 stars!!
Good game January 28, 2008 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
My teenage boys really like this game. They play it a couple of times a week and say that it's different from other games.
Another year, another Tony Hawk game October 23, 2007 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
Ah yes, it's that time of year again when all the various franchises are out with new releases just in time for the holiday season. Tony Hawk's Proving Ground finds the legendary skater riding again on the PS2 with what may be the system's last hurrah with the Hawk-meister, and boy does it show. The story elements that have become a staple of the series over the last few installments are here again, but it feels as if there's a lot missing compared to the higher powered versions of the game. However, it is worth noting that the game doesn't actually look half bad for a late in life PS2 game, and even looks a bit better than last year's Tony Hawk's Project 8. There's a good soundtrack as usual and the typical, tried and true Tony Hawk-style gameplay mechanics that we all know and love are here, but there's no online features to be found, which is by far the biggest disappointment of Proving Ground. All in all, Tony Hawk's Proving Ground is about what you would expect from the series at this point on the PS2, which is still worth checking out if you're still hanging on to your aging console.
