Amazon.com Product Description
Experience the thrill and terror of the infamous Resident Evil franchise like never before with the Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition. Featuring Chris Redfield of the original Resident Evil and new partner Sheva Alomar, a West African agent of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA), this sci-fi action/survival game is packed with hordes of fast-moving, quick-thinking enemies that represent a whole new breed of unimaginable undead evil. The Gold Edition features every exciting play option found in the initial releases of the game, including two-player co-op, powerful new weapons and real-time inventory management between players, but also includes all RE5 console version download content released to date. This includes new episodes and costumes, an improved Mercenaries Mode, and online versus mode. | New co-op play and character. View larger. | The same dangerously fun action. View larger. | Story From the ashes of old conflicts, a new terror arises. The Umbrella Corporation and its crop of lethal viruses have been destroyed and contained, but a new, more dangerous threat has emerged. Years after surviving the events in Raccoon City, Chris Redfield has been fighting the scourge of bio-organic weapons all over the world. Now a member of the Bio-terrorism Security Assessment Alliance (B.S.A.A.), Chris is sent to Africa to investigate a biological agent that is transforming the populace into aggressive and disturbing creatures. Joined by local BSSA agent, Sheva Alomar, the two must work together to solve the truth behind the disturbing turn of events. Exciting Two-Player Co-op Mode The new cooperative gameplay element focuses on the realities of a dual-agent mission, highlighting the ways in which Redfield and Alomar must work together to survive the unexpected, while still allowing them to split up and work alone. To help you maximize the potential of this setup, two-player online and offline co-op modes ensure that you have options when aligning yourself with a partner. New Episodes Episodes and Costumes In addition to all the campaign gameplay content included in the initial standard console release, Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition also includes two all-new episodes. These include "Lost in Nightmares" in which Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine journey back to the Spencer Mansion from the original Resident Evil to solve its puzzles, and uncover the secrets of the Umbrella Corporation; and "Desperate Escape", featuring Jill Valentine and BSAA agent Josh Stone fighting to escape the Tricell facility, and the unrelenting waves of enemies at their heels. The Gold Edition also adds two new costume packs containing a total of four new costumes. These new costumes feature full playability both in-game and in cutscenes, ensuring that Gold Edition players always fight evil in style. Online Versus Mode now Included Originally available only as an additional digital content download, the Resident Evil 5 online versus mode comes packaged along with the Gold Edition. In it players with Xbox LIVE Gold memberships take control of Chris, Sheva and other RE5 favorites in online battles of up to four players where the choice is yours whether to fight alone or with a team in two game variations which include "Slayers", where you compete for points by defeating the zombie Majini, and "Survivors", where you fight against human competition. Mercenaries Reunion Mercenary Mode, was an unlockable mode available at the end of the single player campaign in the original releases of the game that hearkened back to the franchises roots in the Horror genre. Mercenaries Reunion is an updated version of that mode included in the Gold Edition. It is an all-out, arcade style zombie fest in which players must eliminate as many enemies as they can in a limited amount of time, using only the weapons and ammo that is found in the play environment, and a curtailed number of inventory slots. Available both offline and online, Mercenaries Reunion features eight new playable characters and weapon load outs, providing players with additional opportunities and challenges. An Unprecedented Level of Fear Co-producer and series veterans Jun Takeuchi (Lost Planet) and Masachika Kawata (Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles) unleash an unprecedented level of fear for the next generation in Resident Evil 5, the sequel to one of the highest-rated video games in history according to Metacritic.com and Gamerankings.com. Revolutionizing the series with an unbelievable level of detail, realism and control, Resident Evil 5 is certain to bring new fans to the series as well as satisfy veteran players. These incredible changes to both the gameplay and world of Resident Evil make this a must-have game for gamers across the globe. RE (resident Evil) August 24, 2010 Master_Lestat (california, USA) I love the game. It came in a very good condition even though it was a pre-owned game. I recomend this game to all RE (Resident Evil) fans. The seller was very helpful and got in touch with me when I needed it. You cant go wrong with buying things on Amazon.com. But, it is a very hard game to play and the graphics are killer.
DON"T BUY THE 360 VERSION UNLESS YOU HAVE INTERNET! August 5, 2010 John W. Acosta (Central Falls, RI USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
THIS VERSION OF THE GAME FOR THE XBOX 360 IS A BIG A BIG RIP-OFF COMPARED TO THE PS3 VERSION WHICH COMES WITH ALL THE EXTRA CONTENT IN ONE DISC. ALL YOU GET ON THE 360 VERSION IS A NEW PACKAGING AND A "CODE" THAT YOU MUST USE ONLINE TO DOWNLOAD THE EXTRAS, AND TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, EVEN IF YOU DOWNLOAD THE EXTRAS, JUST LIKE ANYTHING YOU DOWNLOAD ON XBOX LIVE, YOU CAN'T LATER ON USE THAT CONTENT OFF-LINE BECAUSE MICROSOFT FORCES YOU TO BE CONNECTED IN ORDER TO USE THE NEW FEATURES. THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE INCONVIENCE FOR GAMERS AND A BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES/MONOPOLY FROM MICROSOFT IN ORDER TO CONTROL GAMERS ON HOW TO USE CONTENT THAT ALREADY BELOG TO THE BUYERS. AVOID THIS VERSION AT ALL COST.
can NOT move while aiming, can NOT dodge jump July 20, 2010 Tim (Cambria Heights, NY United States) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
The controls for this game are extremely retarded.
(1) You can NOT walk while you are aiming. Your body becomes frozen like a stone statue, the game forces you to sand still. So as an infected is coming towards you, you cannot walk backwards to create some space between you and him.
(2) You can NOT shoot from the waist. You cannot shoot from the waist like in Gears of War or many other popular games. You always have to raise your hands and perform a hard aim. Even when throwing a grenade you also have to do a hard aim. You cannot do a quick throw.
(3) The hero seems to suffer from "shaky hands syndrome". When you aim, his hands shakes so the red laser light skakes up and down. So it becomes very difficult to perform a head shot.
(4) The knife attack is the same, it has NOT been improved. The exact same cheesy knife attack from part 4 has been transferred over to part 5. You swing your arm as if you are trying to swat a mosquito fly. You can NOT grab an infected and brutally hack him to pieces, like you are gutting a pig. You only have your small "weak" knife like from part 4.
(5) You can NOT dodge jump. "Look out someone is about to hit you in your face with a metal pipe"........in this game you have to take that metal pipe in your face (your face acts as a shield). You cannot jump out of the way of an incoming attack.
As a comparison I recently played another game named Stranglehold. It was made years before RE5, but Stranglehold has much better controls. Why does an older xbox game have better controls than a game that was released in 2009???
Latecomers rejoice April 23, 2010 Arghuss (Illinois) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I kept waiting for RE5 to come down in price. Just as it was coming down, the Gold edition arrived. While I was a little disappointed that it was the original game and a token for the rest of the downloads, I'm okay with it, but it sounds like Capcom wasn't clear on that point. If you already own RE5, the Gold edition won't be much of a deal. If you are just getting it, the extras in the Gold are well worth it.
I enjoy this one more than 4. The co-operative aspects take it to a better level. It's nice to have a companion who's helpful and can watch your back. And you need it. The enemies are faster, stronger, and much more numerous. This makes physical attacks much more important to conserve ammo. The limited inventory means you have to be more selective about what you carry. And you'll be going a long way.
From depressed town, to ancient ruins, to high-tech lab, the sounds, colors, and lighting are very well done. Just remember, it's dangerous to stare at the scenery when enemies are lurking about. I tend to use the regular costumes, just because I can't take Sheva seriously in that thing. I can't remember the last time I felt a need to follow the story arc in a game more than a couple of times.
This game was well worth the
Gold edition stinks April 2, 2010 Brittany Hernandez (florida) 7 out of 10 found this review helpful
Extremely disapointing, I got it the day after it came out and sent it back to amazon right away. It's just the original disc with a redeem code, and you can only use the redeem code ONCE, then your screwed. You might as well by the original for $12 and just download everything.
