1 out of 5 stars one of the worst games I've ever played   August 19, 2008
Games I liked for reference: the Total War series, KOTOR series, Fallout 1, Jagged Alliance, Sins of Solar Empire to name a few.

However, this POS is horrible. BORING. Spent way to much time just running around. The inventory management system is annoying. They make it difficult to give the best weapons to the best people. You have to click around every time. Also, you have no idea if a person is really effective with a given weapon. KOTOR had the great idea of allowing you to see the combat log(D&D style).
In everyway this game falls short of a real PC game. I'll be much more careful of buying anything from BioWare in the future.

5 out of 5 stars A great experience and a lot of fun.   August 18, 2008
A lot of people have complained of bugs and other issues, and I am sure they are telling the truth. I was one of the lucky ones and had literally zero issues or bugs and I replayed this game four times. Although it gives off a sandbox feel at first, it is deceptive as you will quickly discover there are just minor variations to a rather linear plot. You have to accomplish the same objectives on various planets, for example, but you can do them out of order.

Still, the game is of cinematic quality and has great production values. The PC version , if it works ok for you, is astonishing. I really enjoyed it and those I recommended it to also purchased it and had no issues. They also enjoyed it a lot. Great game, a definite A.

5 out of 5 stars don't let these non-specific reviews taint it.   August 11, 2008

this game = ownage. it's incredible. 3rd playthrough i'm practically having just as much fun (first two were on 360). plus i get to do the expansion pack thingy for free on pc.

it looks better, loads faster, and has better menus. the control scheme blows the 360 controller away.

if your pc can run it well, play this game. it's the best single player rpg experience i've ever played. this counts all snes, ps1, you name it. mass effect is the best rpg ever.

I almost vomited.
I rather not talk about it anymmore
I am afraid i would become as bad as the game itself.

Some things are better left alone...

1 out of 5 stars Too soon to buy - wait for the patches   August 9, 2008

I hate to have to say it but there are major problems with this game and I am not referring to the drm silliness. My own copy won't play after the initial screen and that was >after< installing the latest patch (weirdly enough, I could get it started before the patch). Prior to that the game forums have tons of complaints about multiple in-game crashes and they have not gotten any less with the patch. While some people are reporting no problems, so many are that it suggests something fundamental is wrong. As much of a fan of Bioware and RPG games as I am, I strongly urge you to wait a couple of months before trying this one out.
