Fisher-Price and Amazon.com have teamed up to offer this item in Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging, a recyclable, easy-to-open alternative to traditional packaging. A Frustration-Free Package comes without excess packaging materials such as hard plastic "clamshell" casings, plastic bindings, and wire ties. It’s designed to be opened without the use of a box cutter or knife and will protect your product just as well as traditional packaging during shipping. The new packaging eliminates 36 inches of plastic coated wire ties, 1,576.5 square inches of printed corrugated package inserts, and 36.1 square inches of printed folding carton materials. Also eliminated are 175.25 square inches of PVC blisters, 3.5 square inches of ABS molded styrene, and two molded plastic fasteners. This item ships in its own box, without the need for an additional shipping box.
 Plenty of Imaginative Action
The pirates have plenty to do, thanks to special "action points" all over the ship. Your child can simply place a pirate on one of the ship's five special areas, turn the figure, and watch the action! The pirates can lower the ship's sails, drop the anchor, and fire the three hidden cannons. Two pirates can even fight a duel, and the captain can extend the plank for some unlucky soul to walk. Like all Fisher Price toys, the Adventures Pirate Ship is built tough, with larger pieces that are easier and safer for little hands to manipulate. It includes three pirates with interchangeable hats and swords, a treasure map, treasure chest filled with treasure, and a cannon that really works. Additional accessories are sold separately. Your child will have hours of fun entering an imaginary world of adventure. However, pirates should use this ship on an imaginary sea only -- it's not built for use in real water.  Wonderful Pirate Ship January 6, 2009
We purchased the pirate ship as a gift for our friends' son, who is 5. It came in the wonderful packaging where you don't have to undo anything, you just pull it out of the box and play (the BEST idea EVER!!!). Sam opened it and began playing with it immediately, and our 5-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter joined right in. The pirate ship is a great toy and appeals to a variety of ages (and it's not just for boys, girls love it too!). Another of our son's friends has the ship as well, and every time our son's play group meets at that friend's house, the pirate ship is a popular toy. The cannon that actually shoots is probably the best part. I would highly recommend this toy to anyone.
Pirate Ship January 6, 2009
I bought this for my 3 year old grandson who loves all things pirate, this is the only thing he played with on Christmas and for 3 days he stayed with us. It sparks imagination, has enough "kid powered" movement to keep them interested. This is the best toy I have ever got for him and highly recommend it for all aspiring pirates

great toy. able to use characters from other sets with this one. Batman becomes a pirate etc. My grandson dropped his Star War toys and started playing with this as soon as it was opened.

My son is 3 so I definitely see most of the parts and people getting lost, but the main ship is very fun to play with regardless! I do wish that some of the parts were permanent because they really make the ship look gorgeous, but are very easy to remove and so they don't stay on even through the normal play process. Nonetheless, every button, lever, etc leads to another fun discovery... sails move up and down... the cannons engage for battle...all in all i am satisfied with the toy and my son loves playing with it. Just be prepared to lost most of the accessories.
