Be the first to move your child-shaped playing piece from square one to square 100 on the Chutes and Ladders game board--but watch out! If you land on the square that shows you ate too much candy--Ouch!--you get a tummy ache and slide down a chute to a square a few numbers below. But if you end your turn on a good-deed square, such as helping sweep up a mess, you'll be rewarded by a ladder-climb up the board.

A fantastic follow-up to Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders is ideal for younger children who are still learning to take turns and just beginning to recognize numbers (the spinner stays in the single digits). It's also a gentle introduction to the higher numbers as players climb to 100 at the top of the board. And, thanks to all those chutes and ladders, it's got enough excitement to keep your 7-year-old on the edge of her seat. English and Spanish instructions are included; no reading is necessary to play. Chutes and Ladders is for two to four players. --Julie Ubben

Product Description
This delightful game is simple and easy to play, even for children who can't read. Fun pictures help kids understand the rewards of doing good deeds as they climb up the ladders-and the consequences of naughty ones as they slide down the chutes. For 2 to 4 players. Game includes: game board, spinner with plastic arrow and 4 pawns with plastic stands.

5 out of 5 stars Chutes and Ladders Rocks!   December 26, 2008
I am so happy I bought this game. I never had one as a kid but I played last night for the first time with my daughter, 5 and my son, 3 and we had so much fun together. Although we get very busy we are going to start having several game nights a week. The game was interesting enough to hold my 3 year olds attention to the end which doesn't happen often, they got to practice their counting and I got to explain ethics and morals. The "rules" were very easy to catch on to and their were lots of giggles and laughter! Don't wait any longer to add this to your game room:)

5 out of 5 stars Very fun game for a preschooler.   December 12, 2008
I've played this game recently with a 3-1/2 year old (almost 4), and we had a great time. It's a good experience for the child, because they get to learn rules, practice counting, taking turns, etc. The little pieces are cardboard, but they seem to be thick enough that they should last a long, long time.

5 out of 5 stars We love it!   December 10, 2008
I enjoyed this game as a child and now we enjoy playing it with our son. He turned 3 recently and loves it!!

He already knows his numbers (he has played with number flash cards for months) so this aspect of the board was no problem. I do agree that it is a little confusing as to which way to go but it's not that bad.

My husband told our son that the chutes are silly so now he says "ahhhh!" when he has to go down one and really enjoys that part. I really don't think games go that long-no big deal with the time factor to us.

I do agree that the artwork stinks! I also think the big headed kids aren't great. I have 2 older boards (one from the early 70's and the other from mid 70's) and my son does prefer playing on those. The pictures are much more straight forward and easier to understand.

All in all though this is a classic game that is lots of fun. We have explained to our son what the consequences mean and it's so cute when he lands on a ladder- "I mowed the lawn;now I get to go the circus!" It's great to pretend you're a big kid, isn't it?

I did email the manufacturer to complain about the bad graphics but other than that, we are satisfied!

3 out of 5 stars At $5.00 it's OKAY, a little flimsy, confusing game board   November 14, 2008
Its chutes and ladders, it should be simple fun. You spin the spinner move your spaces, hit a ladder, go up, hit a chute, come down. There are a lot of fun pictures on the game board, however, it makes it hard to see the numbers, or the directional arrows.

As this game is supposed to be for the super young this becomes a big frustration. The standee pieces are cardboard which is fine but after playing a few games the bottoms or our characters are fraying.

They made it cheap to be affordable, so you get what you pay for here.

3 out of 5 stars Not a bad game, but the kids didn't really like it very much   August 11, 2008
Shipping was fine, game was in fine condition. The kids had more fun assembling the spinner and game pieces than actually playing it. Maybe they'll enjoy it when they're older, my oldest is 4.
