our 15 month old loves this.. especially the kazoo. Good start for kids to learn about sounds, cause and effect and music.

I brought the Ready Set Learn! Paz's Musical Band Set for my daughter for Christmas. On January 26 she was playing the drum and the drumsticks made a hole in the drum about the size of a quarter. From there the plastic cracked and the hard plastic pieces were still attached to the drum, she picked them apart & brought them to me.
Thinking that this was an easy fix, I thought that I would just get in touch with the Discovery Channel Retail Store to order a replacement lid, because my daughter liked it so much, but she enjoyed the drum the best. The directed me to the manufacturer and were not much help.
I have went out and brought the Little Tikes set & the quality is so much better.

The drum is nice, but the sound isn't terribly "resounding", for a child's toy it's fine, but if your child really wants it for the drum sound, I'd buy something that's just a drum and has a leathery-type cover. The other instruments are fun, and all have cute sounds. The favorite among all my son's friends are the maracas. The Kazoo is also great. They are all made of sturdy plastic so exhuberant preschoolers can't really destroy any of the instruments. I think it comes with a good number of instruments for the price and I've bought this for several friends and all the toddlers/preschoolers love it! A good buy.
Good Quality Instruments January 12, 2007
I bought this musical band set for my 2 year old niece. It came with lots of unique instruments, but her favorite was the small rain stick and the maracas. Anyway, she loved pretty much everything that it came with, however the flute is something she will get used to as she gets older. The instruments are really good quality, and I think will withstand a beating if it had to. I own the band set put out by Parents, and I think this one is much better. It has a nicer variety. It even comes with a kazoo which my neice thought was really silly as she tried to make sound go through it. I have two boys, and I think I will by this for my son for his first birthday. He also liked the contents of this band set and it appeared that everything in it was safe enough for him to try out and play with. I really liked this toy and I am very happy I bought it for my neice.

I purchased this for my grand-daughter's 1st birthday. She loves it! The 'instruments' and drum are sturdy, colorful, make lots of different noises, and everything fits nicely inside the drum for storage (her mom likes that!). I was concerned it may be too advanced for a 1 year old, but she picks and chooses what she wants to make music with. I highly recommend this product.
