So much fun, but SAFETY CONCERN December 4, 2008 First, I love toys by PARENTS and have never bought one that my child didn't love. This one was no exception--he's gotten more use out of this than almost any other toy he owns (and he has way too many toys). The other reviewers are right--it's incredibly over priced here. I got mine at Target for MUCH less. But most importantly, I was shocked yesterday to find my two and a half year old standing with the STRAP BEGINNING TO TWIST AROUND HIS NECK, and his face beginning to turn RED! He's a smart kid, but I don't think he'd be able to figure out how to loosen something like that around his neck--especially if he were panicking. Please be careful--and don't let young children play with this drum with the strap attached unless you're supervising them carefully. I was in the same room with my son when this happened and he wasn't making any noise that I remember when this happened.
BUY IT AT TARGET! November 28, 2008 This sells for half the price at target!!! It is a great toy, which is why I gave it such a high review, but don't buy through amazon, the price is outrageous!
Too expensive at this site, buy it at Target November 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Amazon is selling this WAY OVER PRICE. It sells for about $19.99 at Target. Otherwise it is a great musical gift for babys and toddlers.
Excellent music set for a toddler! November 16, 2008 We bought this instrument set at Target for my daughter when she was 18 months old. She is now 27 months and plays with this set often!
I agree with others that it is overpriced here.. you can buy this product at Target for about $20.
The instruments are great. My daughter especially loves the drum.. she loves to bang the sticks on the drum. My only complaint is the little lady bug thing.. it doesnt "work" to well. Sure.. you hear dings when bang on it.. but, its not such good quality (my daughter could care less.. she just bangs away!)
If you are looking just for a basic instrument set for your toddler.. this is a very good choice. If you want a more advanced one.. I would recommend the Melissa & Doug Band In a Box set.
Buy it...but not here! October 25, 2008 I bought this toy for my son when he was a toddler. He loved it and got a lot of great play time out of it. When we moved we lost a lot of the pieces, but he continued to play with the little bells we had left. Even though we lost the drum itself, he used the drumsticks to tap out rhythms on hardback books or blocks.
This isn't just another loud toy that will give you a migraine while your kid bangs away on it. My son, as well as my other children, used this toy to accompany the music they heard on the radio or on TV. I tried to teach them how to create a rhythm and they really enjoyed it.
I HIGHLY recommend price comparing before purchasing this product!!! I am planning on buying the toy again for my one year old son so he can appreciate it as his siblings did when we had all the pieces. Target sells this toy for about $22 and it is currently about $3 off (through November 24, 2008). I absolutely can't imagine spending as much as Amazon is asking, plus shipping.
