 music fun but a little loud January 5, 2009
My kids and I love using it and I love that it comes without any assembly required. The only problem is the default volume-it's very loud. Everytime you turn it on or switch activities it's back up again. Don't turn it on while anyone is sleeping in the house!
Toy is lots of fun and I would still recommend it.

Back to Basics Toys is a very incompetent organization! This was a fiasco from the start. They could not answer any questions. They must be a huge company with no idea what they are doing. I ended up cancelling my order. I will say they were pleasant to deal with (a call center) when I was asking questions and canceling, even if they could not answer any questions, even if they were "customer service". If I have a hard time with the credit I will post again. As of this time, I have a disapointed child and I am waiting for a credit on my card. We shall see what happens.
A good value, but can be too loud. December 28, 2008
Bought this for my 5 year old for Christmas. The instrument sound quality is excellent, The range of sample songs is fairly large. The one bad thing about this keyboard is that when you turn the volume down, once you change to another instrument or 'demo,' the volume goes back up dramatically and you have to readjust it each time. The default volume setting is painfully loud in our large living room.

The piano sound and function are fine, but the plastic material used to make the pad ruined it. The mat is too slick. If your kids are in socks, and who's children aren't in the house, they slide all over the piano. Also, when the mat is walked on, it makes a loud crinkling noise that drowns out the music. It is really very annoying. Our children were finished with it within a few minutes. I cannot recommend this toy.

Contrary to a few other reviews that spooked me from buying this toy in the first place, it does not have an odor coming out of the box. This toy lasted and made every note with three little girls dancing all over it and changing the instruments at the same time. At first I was scared this toy wouldn't last 5 minutes with that kind of use...but after a while, it seems like it was almost made for that kind of use. I wouldn't hesitate buying this toy - it is so much fun to play on and watch!
