worth the 20 bucks. August 4, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
For a goofy gag toy, this is built pretty well and plays decent sounding drumbs. It's larger and louder than I expected, which is actually nice. It's not meant to be a serious tool for practicing your talents, but it is oddly addicting when you just feel like making a bunch of noise.
Strictly a toy December 28, 2007 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I received this toy for Christmas, and it seemed like an interesting idea. I have been a drummer and a finger tapper forever, and I like to think that I have a good sense of rhythm. This little unit is just not very responsive, so if you already have a feel for drumming, it just can't produce the beats that you try to tap out. The sensors are very location sensitive, and if you try to tap out something like a single stroke roll, it just can't keep up. The sounds are also somewhat irritating, especially the bass drum - sounds like your striking a paper bag.
So if you are considering this as a play thing for kids, it might be the ticket. If you are looking for something to exercise your rhythmic abilities, look elsewhere.
I don't even own it yet but I love it! December 27, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this for my 7 year old nephew who "plays" guitar and piano. At one time, he wanted to play the drums and join a rock band, but then another kid in his class had drums - so well, he now plays the electric guitar. Anyway, after I got this thing in the mail (for him), I couldn't stop playing with it! My husband couldn't stop playing with it either. It's just a super fun "thing" for all ages. I never even got to try any of the features it offers (I didn't take it out of the box, and the special features were under the cardboard!), so I don't know how well they work. All I know is, for the money, this is worth every penny. I almost kept it and got my nephew something else, but I made myself wrap it up so I would quit playing with it.
