You won't want to miss seeing all your favorite Sesame Street characters as they take to the ice at a nearby skating rink. Perhaps the most enjoyable feature of all is the wealth of wonderful music--everything from traditional Christmas songs to the now famous "Keep Christmas with You" by Joe Raposo. Several numbers are signed in American Sign Language and there's even a brief mention of Hanukkah. Just as I remembered it November 26, 2008
It has been a tradition in my family to watch Sesame Street Christmas since it first aired over 25 years ago. You can't beat Big Bird's determination to meet "Mr. Claus," Bert & Ernie playing out a modern Gift of the Magi, and Cookie Monster's lack of willpower. I am very much looking forward to popping in this DVD instead of the warped (but much loved) video tape!
Great family movie November 19, 2008
This movie is a replacement movie for one that got broke. I am so glad w found it!!!! Our grandaughter and grandaddy could watch it for hours!
Childhood Christmas Revisited November 17, 2008
It just isn't Christmas for me until I watch Christmas Eve on Sesame Street. My birthday is Christmas Eve and one year I received an old cassette tape recorder as a gift. My sister and I, age 9 and 6 at the time, recorded the whole movie from the tv while we watched. I would give anything now to find that tape with our giggles, comments and singing on it. It is such a sincere, calm and beautiful Christmas special. I'm always surprised that more people haven't heard of it. It takes me back to the very best of my childhood Christmases and I so enjoy sharing it with my children now.

Classic old-school Sesame Street February 9, 2008

First off, viewers must be aware that this is Sesame Street from the 1970's. Many of your child's favorite characters weren't "born" yet. Also, remember that back then Sesame Street was a little edgier in that Oscar was seemingly being a little mean to Big Bird, teasing him about Santa Claus and how no one would get presents. He also didn't hesitate to talk about Santa's weight in a not very "PC" manner. Once those two facts are accepted, this is classic Sesame Street fun and sentiment. Bert and Ernie find themselves acting out The Gift of the Magi, with Mr. Hooper providing the most heartwarming moment of the film. I Hate Christmas, sung by Oscar, harkens back to what Sesame Street was back then in that it is just plain funny, but also shows what they (sadly) would never get away with in these ultra-sensitive days.
